Community Justice Garden Build @ Farming Hope!

On Thursday November 8, only two days after mediocre-at-best mid-term elections and just before thousands of homes and families were destroyed in the Camp and Woolsey fires, Planting Justice and Farming Hope gathered on a tucked away corner in the Western Addition of San Francisco to build a community garden*.  With the help of handfuls of volunteers, in the course of one day we transformed this lot into this beautiful, nourishing space:

After a hard day of sawing, drilling, clearing, and moving mulch and soil, we gathered in a circle to share our gratitude for the day: for the abundance of food to be produced, for the community built through shared dreams and hard work,  for the spotted frutillary butterfly who flashily announced their appreciation of our labor, for an opportunity to build the world we dream of while the current one crumbles around us.   In these heart wrenching times, may we all find ways to plant justice and farm hope.
