Position Title: Grassroots Fundraiser / Program Director
Hiring Committee: Alisia Brown, Daniel Alper, Patrick Dunigan, Haleh Zandi and Gavin Raders

Roles & Responsibilities
Grassroots Fundraiser:

Engage the general public about the work of Planting Justice in neighborhoods throughout the Bay Area, including:
-
Inform people about our mission
-
Inspire people to contribute donations
-
Encourage people to volunteer at our Nursery or Farm sites
-
Connect potential community partners with our Education program
-
Advertise our landscaping services
-
-
Remain in weekly communication with co-workers regarding schedule and sites
-
Submit contributions to our monthly newsletter, Facebook, Instagram, blog, and website
-
Attend weekly program meetings, monthly staff meetings, annual strategic planning retreat, and other required staff trainings
Grassroots Fundraising Program Director (begins 60-90 days after training on-site as a Grassroots Fundraiser):

Facilitate the Grassroots Fundraising program’s weekly meetings

Prepare warm-ups and trainings as needed

Plan out each week’s fundraising sites

Ensure all Fundraisers have a fully-stocked binder and are prepared to reach their goals

Track and send qualitative data to the Co-Directors

Ensure all donations are processed and deposited
-
Ensure all donors receive receipts and year-end tax information
-
Add interested donors to the PJ email list

Facilitate phone banking as needed
-
Hire and train new Grassroots Fundraisers (alongside veteran staff)

Handle program-related communications
-
Improve program operations and impact
-
Participate in local, regional and national collaborative partnerships with other social justice organizations including conferences, meetings, and solidarity work
Required Qualifications for Grassroots Fundraiser:

Little to no experience in the field is acceptable. Planting Justice will train and prepare anyone who is inexperienced for this position. Must be willing to learn new things and step outside one’s comfort zone.

Preferred Qualifications for Program Director:
-
2+ years experience in related fields (Canvassing, Community Organizing, Fundraising)

Demonstrated ability to lead program management
-
Solid administrative & organizational skills
-
Versatility with online fundraising platforms (Authorize, Stay Classy, Donor Perfect)
-
Ability to work cooperatively and delegate a variety of tasks
-
Ability to inspire and build momentum with donors

Fluency in Spanish (not required)

Compensation and Benefits:
-
Salaries at PJ are set through our transparent pay chart. Minimum salary rate for the Grassroots Fundraiser position begins at $37,000 and minimum salary rate for the Program Director position begins at $42,000/year, each with a 3% increase in annual pay. Other increases in salary rate may apply and is negotiable with the hiring committee
