Position title: Kitchen and Retail Manager

Roles and Responsibilities
- Kitchen:
- Recipe Development and Design (jams, baked goods, fruit vinegars and other value-added products)
- Food and Ingredient Sourcing and Purchasing
- Overseeing proper food disposal protocol
- Insure facility adheres to and keeps current with all State and local regulations and permits
- Train kitchen associate(s) and youth interns in value-added production and kitchen protocols
- Creation and Implementation of kitchen protocols
- Product quality control
- Collaborate w/ Farmer’s Market Truck staff to stock truck
- Collaborate w/Media team and website mgr for online sales
- Collaborate with Media team re: labeling
- Collaborate with Good Table cafe to stock with PJ food and merchandise
- Collaborate with Dir of Sustainable Infrastructure and Nursery in overseeing the buildout and maintenance of facilities
- Collaborate with Farm Team on schedule of harvests and produce delivery
- Retail:
- Design maintain clean a beautiful and inspiring retail environment
- Collaborate w/Nursery Retail mgr to insure POS is 100% operational
- Collaborate w/Media team for instore merchandising
- Participate in onboarding with non-nursery retail
- Customer Service
- Inventory management and purchasing
- Maintaining vendor relationships
- Maintaining QR codes related to POS system
- Collaborate with Dir of Sustainable Infrastructure to support in renovation management
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 yrs+ experience managing commercial kitchen and farm-store retail operations
- Commercial value-added production experience (jam, baked goods, fruit vinegars, etc)
- A clear commitment to a healing-centered, decolonial and feminist approach.
- Maintain positive working relationships with a complex and diverse set of community partners, program participants, and staff members
- Ability to remain open-minded, patient, empathetic and growth-oriented through challenging work experiences
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) is a plus
- Full-time availability
- Valid driver’s license
Compensation and Benefits:
-
- Minimum Salary for Planting Justice Kitchen & Retail Manager is $50,000/year with additional bump-ups that correspond to PJ’s pay chart, with 3% annual pay increases
- Year 1 Benefits include
○ 4 weeks paid time off plus 7 more paid annual holidays
○ Annual professional development stipend of $500, plus other paid training opportunities
○ Kaiser health care package plus dental, vision, life insurance and chiropractic coverage beginning 60-90 days after the first date of hire
○ $500 annual stipend through a TASC flex spending account
