Saijo Oriental Persimmon aka Mr. Elegant (Diospyros kaki) is an excellent, sweet flavored fruit that is highly esteemed. It's Japanese name means "the very best one" and it is definitely one of our favorites here at the farm. Medium small, elongated conical shaped fruits are yellow, keep well and are great for drying. An astringent variety that needs to ripen before eating. Medium sized, consistent bearing tree is hardy down to -10 F. Hardiness zones 7-10.
