Chardonnay Grape (Vitis vinifera) is a classic white wine grape that originated from the Burgandy region of Eastern France. Now one of the most widely grown wine grapes with around 400,000 acres planted world wide. Very adaptable it makes a somewhat acidic lean and crisp white wine in cool summer climates and a more fruity and sweet wine where summers are hot. Also widely used in the making of champagne. A vigorous and productive vine that is known to be adaptable to different situations and having a natural ease of cultvation. It is mostly nuetral in flavor and considered to be very malleable in that it can take on and reflect the terroir of where it is grown as well as the skills of the winemaker. Hardy zones 6-10.
