Widely planted ornamental medium-small leguminous tree has feathery foliage that casts a light dappled shade. The fragrant and fluffy pink flowers literally drip with nectar, are very numerous and last most of the summer. Grows 15-30 feet tall and has a very wide spread. Seed pods are used as animal feed and enjoyed by birds and wildlife, while the sweet scented flowers are an important nectar source for butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. This hardy, quick and easy to grow tree has been found to be somewhat invasive on the east coast. Hardy zones 6-9.
