Position Title:
Team Lead - The Good Table Nursery & Farm Store
Roles & Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
● Provide on-site leadership and mentorship to team members, ensuring alignment with Planting Justice’s mission and values.
● Support onboarding and daily coordination of staff, volunteers, and interns.
● Monitor and evaluate daily workflows to ensure efficiency, safety, and quality.
● Collaborate with managers to set schedules, delegate tasks, and manage staffing needs.
Site Coordination & Maintenance
● Oversee daily setup and breakdown of work areas including outdoor spaces, plant areas.
● Ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are used properly and returned to their
designated places.
● Identify and report any maintenance or safety concerns to site supervisors.
Program & Customer Support
● Support educational workshops, community programs, and on-site retail operations.
● Greet visitors and provide assistance with plant purchases, questions, or programming inquiries.
● Act as a point of contact for staff and participants when supervisors are off-site.
Inventory & Administrative Tasks
● Assist in managing inventory of tools, plants, and supplies.
● Record attendance, participation, or plant losses as needed.
● Use mobile apps or other digital tools to communicate, track tasks, and support
operations.
● Maintain updated signage and support communications for programming.
Team Building & Culture
● Model strong interpersonal communication, reliability, and professionalism.
● Contribute to a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
● Encourage and facilitate knowledge sharing among team members.
● Support Restorative Justice practices and lead by example in conflict resolution.
Desired Skills & Experience
● At least 1–2 years of experience in leadership, supervision, or team coordination.
● Prior experience in agriculture, horticulture, community organizing, or environmental justice preferred.
● Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
● Ability to work outdoors in varied conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
● Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus, but not required.
● Commitment to Planting Justice’s mission of racial, economic, and environmental justice.
● Experience working with formerly incarcerated individuals and disenfranchised
communities is highly valued.
● Must have basic and/or intermediate knowledge of plants/botany
● Ability to teach basic plant knowledge to staff & community members
Compensation
● Starting hourly wage: $27 per hour, depending on experience
