California Natives
We are blessed here in Northern California to have an unusually rich and diverse variety of native plants that can be easily grown as part of our garden landscapes. Besides their unique beauty and cultural significance, native plants are well adapted to our climate and soil types and can be grown with very little added fertilizer or water. These plants are also the natural home and food source of our native birds and critters, who have already lost so much of their original habitats to a variety of human caused actions. By planting native plants, we strengthen our local ecosystems and our connections to the environment that sustains us.
"Man does not weave this web of life. He is merely a strand of it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself." - Chief Seattle, Chief of the Suquamish and Duwamish Tribes
