Turtleback Apple (Malus sp.) is found as a wild tree growing on Turtleback mountain on Orcas Island Washington by my friend and longtime fruit explorer Ed Suij. Excellent hard, crunchy, sweet, but sub-acid high flavor fruit reminds me of possible Jonathan parentage. Glossy yellow-green background is highly blushed with various shades of red. One of our most reliable late fall apples, producing a good crop every year. Keeps very well and disease resistant.
