Select grafted variety of honey locust from the farm of David Millwood near Lake Junuluska, North Carolina. Mostly thornless tree is very productive of large nutritious pods that have been tested at 31% sugar content dry weight. Also contains up to 13% protein. Ground to a meal, or fed whole these pods make for an excellent feed for cattle, goats and sheep and were also eaten by North American natives in the eastern states similarly to the tribes of the Southwest's use of mesquite pods, another leguminous tree. Light shade makes them ideally suited for agro-forestry or sylvopasture plantings. Hardy zones 4-9.
