Gandana is a type of perennial leek grown in Afghanistan. This leek grows for about 3 years and is cut and come again similar to garlic chives. It also produces seed, which can be used for propagation! This leek is used to flavor dishes such as Bolani, but can be used anytime a garlic chive, leek, or green onion is called for. We got our initial seed (image from this source) from Mastuurah and now have out own patch going https://www.etsy.com/listing/825691978/afghan-gandana
