Myrica pensylvanica
This shrub has many uses and is salt tolerant and adaptable to variety of sites. Its noted use is as a rootstock for YangMei fruit tree or Chinese Bayberry, a highly sought after fruit tree from China that fetches $25+ per lbs of fruit. A little about Northern Bayberry- Fragrant with dense foliage on a compact form makes this great for hedges and screens. The white waxy coating on the small fruits is used for candle making. This shrub is evergreen in mild climates and deciduous elsewhere. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Grows to around 9 ft. tall, equal width. Wider than tall, Dense, deciduous shrub prized for aromatic foliage, fruit. Often used extensively for erosion control due to fibrous rooting and suckering habit and widely adaptable to a wide . Its noted that is pollution, drought and salt tolerant.
