Orcas Pear tree a.k.a Pyrus communis. Tasty midseason variety was discovered by fruit enthusiast, Joe Lon growing in a roadside hedgerow on Orcas Island WA. Excellent scab resistant fruits. They are yellow with a Carmine blush and are sweet rich, juicy, smooth with a buttery flesh. An individual pear can weight up to 1lb. when mature Certified organic. Fruit ripens early September, its bloom time is in April. The maturity height is 10'- 15' making it a Semi dwarf grower, it requires full sun to 1/2 day, well-drained soil and it needs a pollinizer. one good pollinizer is the Seckel; Asian pears can also be a good pollinizer. For the most part European pears are quite disease resistant and easy to grow Except for occasional problems with codling Moth
