Financial Management:
1. Track PJ’s expense and revenue streams, alongside pertinent program staff 2. Ensure timely and accurate financial record-keeping, with PJ’s Accountant 3. Government Invoicing
4. Deliver quarterly reports to PJ’s Co-Directors that provide insight into the overall health and needs of each program team’s operations
5. Report on PJ’s financial health to staff at monthly meetings and to Board at quarterly meetings
6. Meet with Co-Directors on Budgets for each Planting Justice Programs 7. Sits on Board Finance Committee and is responsible for any tasks that may arise from this role
8. Developing Transparent Pay Chart and ensuring its availability to staff
Program Operations
1. Develop metrics for evaluating needs/deliverables of each program and improve operations and impact, in collaboration with Co-Directors and program leads 2. Evaluate success of each program and improve operations and impact, in collaboration with Co-Directors and program leads and staff
a. Visit PJ sites on a weekly basis (Mother Farm, East Oakland Nursery and Future Sites)
3. Collaborate with Co-Directors to read and respond to mail, emails, and phone calls, to help maintain relationships with funders, supporters, and collaborators, and to delegate relevant messages to pertinent staff
4. Observe and identify areas where improvements could be made across PJ’s programs and operations to ensure consistency and transparency across the organization
Administrative
1. Helps HR Manager to maintain an annual calendar with reminders to staff and track attendance for all staff retreats and trainings including review of the Employee Handbook, preventing harassment and discrimination, professional development, health coverage benefits, and annual Council elections
2. Assists with audits and ensures information requests by Co-Directors are delivered in a timely manner.
3. Assist Co-Directors with organizing, and administrative responsibilities related to PJ’s physical and programmatic expansions, including Aquaponics, the Good Table nursery, and City of Sacramento nursery.
Supervisions
1. Meets with Planting Justice Team Members in leadership positions for ongoing support and training.
2. Oversee the Communications Director to ensure the organization is effectively publicizing its activities to supporters, allied organizations and the general public, with support of program staff
