We also welcome volunteers! Please click here for more info.

Shipping
We only send out scion and cutting wood from December to April. We collect the cuttings and scionwood while they are dormant to ship in late winter to early spring.
Cutting and Scion wood will be shipped from El Sobrante, CA via USPS. These are seasonal and will be put into stock for presales, then sent during the spring season as available.
If you have a specific date you would like to receive the wood by please put that in a note at checkout.
Dormant Cutting wood will be shipped Jan - March.
Dormant Scion wood will be shipped Jan - April.
Greenwood Cutting will be shipped Sept - Nov. These are more fragile, but will root well during the fall. These may require a different shipping rate as we will want to get them to you as fast as possible.
No combining orders or replacements, unless we have contacted you because something is out of stock. We are a small team taking care of a 4-acre farm and this creates too much administrative work for us at this time.
Arrival & Care
To ensure the best chance of successful rooting or grafting, please follow these care instructions upon arrival:
- Unwrap Promptly: Remove the cuttings or scionwood from the packaging as soon as possible to prevent moisture buildup and mold.
- Moisture: If the wood appears dry, lightly mist it with water to rehydrate. Do not soak.
- Cutting Wood: Cuttings are ready upon arrival and can be stored in a fridge until ready to root.
- Scionwood: Scionwood arrives dormant and can be used right away or stored until conditions are right for grafting. Scionwood is best used fresh, but timing is important when grafting. Grafting is most successful when done while the scionwood is dormant, but temperatures should be warm enough to activate the rootstock’s sap.
*For common stone and pome fruits, 55–60°F is ideal.
*Nut trees and subtropical species like persimmon thrive at around 70°F.
*Please research specific requirements, as each tree or shrub is different, and so are your local environmental conditions.
- Storage: Store in an airtight bag or container inside a fridge where the wood won’t dry out. It is also important to ensure moisture doesn’t get into the bag or container, as excess moisture can cause the wood to rot. Scionwood stores longest at cooler temperatures (35–40°F).
