Veronica Ramirez
Born to immigrant parents from Chile, Veronica grew up on Ramaytush Territory (Redwood City, CA). She is the co-founder of PLACE (People Linking Art, Community & Ecology) located on Ohlone Territory (Oakland, CA). Since its inception in 2010/11, she has worn numerous hats, some of which include: community organizer, organizational development, education, placemaking initiatives, partnerships and neighbor relations, to name a few. She is currently the Co-director for SNAG / The Nest (Seventh Native American Generation), SNAG Magazine is a Native owned arts and culture magazine. The Nest is a multi-media arts center for Native/Indigenous visiting artists. Veronica also is a member and co-founder of Golden Gate Cohousing, a co-housing organization dedicated to diversity and affordable housing for change makers. She is also a member of the North Oakland Restorative Justice Council, addressing community violence through the restorative justice lens as well as being active in the mutual aid efforts in Oakland. In 2017 she was recognized for her community work by the City Council of District 1 in Oakland, CA on Legacy of Cesar Chavez Day. When she is not community organizing, she leads interactive sacred altars with communities. As a sacred activist, this sacred work is what most defines her as it brings to life her passions for earth, art and the sacred while celebrating community. Her curious nature inspires and motivates her toward her deep love of the natural world, spiritual and human connection, and the transformative healing that comes from the co-creative spirit we each possess. Planting Justice since 2016
I have seen myself in the best, best headspace in my life. I’m not drinking no more. I’m eating healthier. It took me to come here, to be here, to really learn to love myself again.
