Physalis peruviana- "Ayachuco Giant"

A varietal cape gooseberry, recently found in the Ayacucho region of Peru by plant explorer J. Simcox.  We got our mother seeds from Tradewind Seeds

It bears plump fruits, larger in size than standard cape gooseberries, with excellent, sweet flavor. Growing conditions are the same as for regular cape gooseberry is indigenous to South America, but has been cultivated in England since the late 18th century and in South Africa in the region of the Cape of Good Hope since at least the start of the 19th century.

Small shrub with small orange fruit similar in size and shape to the common tomato, with a papery husk. It can be grown as an annual or perennial based on your location. Plants are usually small, only 1-3ft in height.
