Well loved native plum grows on the Atlantic seaboard from New Brunswick south through Virginia. Showy white flowers in spring turn to tasty purple plums that are good for fresh eating or jams. Makes a dense round shrub 6 to 10 feet tall. Adaptable to many soil types as long as well drained and very salt tolerant. Important wildlife food and super hardy, zones 3-8.
