Mertensia maritima

Native to many a northern coastline on the Pacific and Atlantic, this uniquely briny plant delivers the oceanic taste of oysters, anchovies and mushrooms in its fleshy blue-green leaves and its vegan! Extremely cold hardy, this low growing, fleshy plant has beautiful purple bell shaped flowers as well. Great plant to grow in a large container. Be cautious snails and slugs love this plant! Started by seed, but the seed germination process is a little tricky, with some stratification needed depending on your climate. This leaf is highly sought after in the culinary world!
