Sand Cherry (Prunus besseyi) Small winter hardy shrub native to the great plains, has cherry shaped purplish black fruits which can be either eaten fresh, cooked or dried. Fruits used medicinally as well for coughs and colds. Bush has spreading habit, grows 4-6 feet, prefers sun and is hardy to zone 3. Our Sand Cherries are seedlings growing in 4x4x6" pots.
