Tanoak

Fast growing evergreen broadleaf tree reaches 40 to 80 feet tall. Grows upright in the woods with a large straight trunk and is more rounded and broad when grown in the open. The large acorns were a favorite food source for native tribes living in coastal California due to their reliable heavy crops and are important for wildlife. Valuable hardwood used for flooring and good for firewood. Zones 7-9.
