Arkansas Black Apple (Malus domestica) is a crisp hard juicy sweet apple that does well with a long growing season. Turns an attractive dark reddish purple to black when ripe, with the color darkening to nearly black after storage. An Heirloom variety that was first produced in 1870 by Mr. Brathwaite in Bentonville, Arkansas that is widley used for desserts, frying, apple butter, and ciders. Arkansas Black apples gained popularity for their unique color, pleasant flavor, and incredible ability to store well. Late to ripen and a heavy producer. Susceptible to apple scab and fireblight, but generally resistant to other major apple diseases and pests including codling moth larval damage due to its thick, tough skin. Our Arkansas Black apples trees are certified organic.
