This wild plum species is native to most of eastern North America from Saskatchewan to New Mexico east to New Hampshire and Florida. Growing from 10 to 30 feet tall it is loaded with white blooms in the spring which are followed by red fruits that are sweet and tart, good for fresh eating, jams and jellies. Widely planted as an ornamental, as well as a food plant, it makes a great edible hedge or windbreak. It is also excellent for stabilizing banks and gullies due to its extensive root system and in the wild tends to sucker and form thickets. An important tree for many wild animals and birds who relish its fruit, shelter and browse. Hardy zones 3-8. Our American Plum is Grown in 4x6" pots.
