Aronia (Aronia melanocarpa) This shrub, native to eastern North America and often called chokeberry, is popular in many parts of the world for its abundant tasty dark blue berries, beautiful spring bloom and striking bright red fall color. The fruit is very high in vitamin C and can be eaten fresh but is most popularly used in juices jams and wine. The bushes grow 4-6ft tall, are very hardy, and adaptable to most growing situations. Aronias are pest and disease free, bear at a young age and are self-fertile. Zones 3-7
