An abundant producer of very large, tasty nut-brown fruit. Originating in the United Kingdom Royal is considered to be the best variety for fresh eating and is also good for cooking and preserves. Small tree is very ornamental and a beautiful addition to the garden with medium sized fruit. Medlar’s long, dark green, tropical looking foliage is accented by large white flowers and striking chestnut brown fruit whilst being self-fertile. "Bletting" required when picked, in a well-lit dry area for a few weeks. this tree is a dwarf tree thus only reaching 10ft in growth by maturity. The Royal Medlar requires full sun exposure.
