Community Nursery Wish List
Help Us Grow the Food Justice Movement! Below is a current list of things we need to further our mission. If you have interest in volunteering or other things you wish to donate that you think might further our movement, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Priority:Organic, OMRI-certified, and non-GMO materials preferred.
Materials & Services Needed
Construction & Infrastructure
- Pier Shoring: Materials or services to reinforce/develop piers.
- Short-term Backhoe Loan & Operator (100 hours): Looking for both the equipment and skilled operator time.
- General Contracting / Construction Services: Assistance with framing, concrete, carpentry, etc.
- Electrical & Plumbing Services: Professional help to install or upgrade systems for nursery, aquaponics, and future bathroom facilities.
Landscaping & Design
- Soil & Compost Donations: Nutrient-rich soil, compost, or other organic amendments for gardening and aquaponics.
- Irrigation Materials & Expertise: PVC piping, drip lines, sprinkler heads, and installation guidance.
Aquaponics & Nursery Supplies
- Aquaponics System Components: Pumps, tanks, filters, piping, water testing kits, and other essential equipment. Please contact for specific details.
- Greenhouse Materials: Greenhouse film, shade cloth, ventilation fans, heating/cooling systems.
- Growing mediums and containers: Clean, unused, and pest-free growing mediums, especially for hydroponic or aquaponic growing operations
Organic Fertilizers & Pest Control: Environmentally friendly options suitable for aquaponics or nursery use.
Education
- Educator shadowing opportunities: Opportunities to shadow teachers and educators in a professional setting as a means of learning through observation.
Equipment Needed
Heavy Machinery & Vehicles
- Forklift (Off-Road, Big Wheels): Essential for moving supplies and equipment around the nursery/aquaponics site.
- Skid Steer / Bobcat (Tracked Preferred): For landscaping, grading, and general site work.
- Large Double-Axle Trailer: To be used in transporting materials and eventually converting into a future bathroom or other facilities at the nursery.
- 4-Wheel Drive, Full-Size Pickup: For hauling, towing, and off-road transport.
- Additional Dump Trailer: For debris, soil, mulch, and other bulk materials.
Lifts & Accessories
- Tommy Gate or Similar Rear Lift Gate: To assist in loading/unloading heavy items.
Farm & Utility Vehicles
- Farm Quad or UTV: Useful for getting around the property and hauling smaller loads efficiently.
Electronics & Technology Donations
What We Need
- Computers & Monitors (in working condition).
- Cables & Networking Equipment (Ethernet, HDMI, power cables, etc.).
- Durable, waterproof or resistant Walkie Talkies
- Other Working Electronic Devices that can be used for office operations, security, or on-site management.
Important Conditions
- No Printers: We are not equipped to repair or recycle printers.
- No Broken or Non-Functional Electronics: Disposing of these becomes costly and logistically difficult. We only accept devices that are in good, usable condition.
Additional Items & Services
- Hand & Power Tools (in good working order): Drills, saws, wrenches, rakes, shovels, etc.
- Volunteers & Skilled Labor: Carpenters, electricians, plumbers, welders, tractor mechanics, etc.
- Donations of Building Materials: Lumber, plywood, drywall, fasteners, insulation, roofing materials.
- Shade Cloth, Structures, or Tents: For seasonal events, seedling protection, or pop-up workstations.
- Cleaning & Sanitation Supplies: Bleach, disinfectants, trash bags, heavy duty tarps, gloves, masks, hand sanitize
- Gardening Hand Tools (in good working order): Spades, hand weeders, pruners, etc.
