Selected at the Nikita Botanic Garden in Yalta (Crimea/Ukraine) as part of a cold-hardy olive breeding program dating to the early 1800s. This compact evergreen is exceptionally cold-hardy to 10°F or below, making it suitable for the Maritime Northwest and regions beyond traditional Mediterranean climates.

Produces abundant crops of large, flavorful fruit suitable for green or black table olives or aromatic olive oil. Ripens October through November, begins bearing at 2-3 years, and can yield 20+ pounds at maturity.

One of approximately 40 cold-hardy olive varieties bred at the historic Nikita Botanic Garden (founded 1812) for cultivation outside the Mediterranean. Wind-pollinated and benefits from cross-pollination with another olive variety planted within 20 feet.
