Italian variety from Genoa region, introduced to North America by Adriano Ferreira (Canada), designated AF (Adriano Ferreira) or from Rob's distribution. Large dark purple to black figs with bright red flesh, super vigorous growth. Produces 50+ figs per tree when established, moderate to heavy production. Dense honey-dripping fruit, thick trunk growth habit.

Common self-fertile fig, large fruits with dark purple-black skin and bright red flesh. Concentrated intense berry sweetness, moderately sweet with chewy texture, honey pooling around eye. Earlier ripening than some late varieties, mid-season (late September-October). Resistant to splitting. Both breba and heavy main crop. 3-5 lobed leaves, mainly 3-lobed. Round pyriform shape. Some sources suggest genetic similarity or identity to Italian 258.

Originates northern Italy, Genoa region. Mother tree from Adriano Ferreira in Canada, material brought to US by Rafed and distributed by Rob, creating "Genovese Nero AF" designation. Considered among top-tier figs by collectors. Various clones in circulation, with AF version most sought-after for confirmed quality and vigor.
