Jose was first introduced to Planting Justice through helping on the set of Sol in the Garden (2023). He started at the Mother Farm in September ‘24, where he loves working with California native plants by saving seeds and propagation material to restore local ecologically depleted areas. He is interested in deepening his understanding of medicinal plants and learning about grafting, pruning, and growing food forest systems. Jose is passionate about self-sustainable farm systems and local food security. He has a budding food forest where he plans to add subtropical and tropical fruit trees to stay connected to his roots. In his free time, he enjoys weightlifting, video games, photography, and is training to be a professional knife sharpener for his community.
I have seen myself in the best, best headspace in my life. I’m not drinking no more. I’m eating healthier. It took me to come here, to be here, to really learn to love myself again.
