Bilberry (Vaccinium ulginosum) Low growing attractive spreading plant is native to northern and high mountainous parts of North America. These Blueberry relatives grow 6-24" tall and spread by rhizomatous growth. They are productive of small juicy sweet bluish-black berries that are famed for promoting healthy eyesight and make a gourmet jam. Soft olive green foliage turns beautiful golden to orange hues in the fall. Tolerant of a wide range of soils as long as they're moderately moist. Self-fertile. Zones 3-8.
