Bright green perennial ground cover does well in the shade. Plants spread by runners and can form a dense mat. We have successfully grown it under fruit trees. Hardy plants are not bothered by insects or disease. The very bitter roots are used for a strong anti-microbial herbal medicine. Very powerful herb should not be taken long term or by pregnant women.
