Galaxy Blueberry

Low-chill Southern Highbush cultivar (Plant Patent #34132) bred by Danny Hartmann. Extremely low chilling requirement of only 100 hours, allowing flowering without dormant enhancing chemicals. Vigorous growth with upright, slightly spreading habit reaching.

Large, high-quality berries with extra sweet flavor and pleasant aromas. Brix of 12.5 at harvest. Described as "best flavored blueberry in the markets." Small dry scars, excellent long shelf life (8 weeks at 35°F). Concentrated ripening with 40% ripening in first harvest.

Very early ripening variety, competing with earliest cultivars. Ripens within days after similar early varieties like Colibri. High yields of 8 pounds per plant at maturity. Fruit borne on terminals of fruiting stems. Bred for both commercial fresh markets and home gardens.
