Developed by USDA breeding program (Mark K. Ehlenfeldt, Nicholi Vorsa, Arlen D. Draper). Original seedling selected in Maryland in 1978, released in 1997/2000. Northern Highbush cultivar reaching 6 feet tall with upright growth habit, spreading only slightly. Very early-ripening variety, flowering at same time as Duke but ripening 3-4 days earlier.

Medium to large berries averaging 1.9 grams each, similar size to Duke. Mostly sweet flavor with high sugar Brix content. Very attractive light blue color that holds well after harvesting. Firm texture. Consistent good quality fruit year after year. Good for both fresh market and processing.

Released by USDA in 1997. Among the earliest Northern Highbush varieties to ripen, typically early June. Consistent yields averaging 10-12 pounds per year. Performs especially well in milder climates with minimal large temperature fluctuations. Adaptable to both hand harvest (for early markets) and mechanical harvest due to good upright plant structure. Shows resistance to mummy berry and stem blight fungi. Forms backbone of early season production in many operations when paired with Hannah's Choice.
