The Verte fig (AKA "Green Ischia") is a self-pollinating variety that may be a good choice for shorter seasons. It needs heat to ripen. Pale green skin on the fruit surrounds dark red pulp with a berry flavor. This variety can grow 10-20 feet in size and grows in zones 7-11, but may be best suited for zones 7 and 8.
