Purple Incense Akebia (AkebiaXpentaphyll)

A hybrid between A quinata and A trifoliata, Purple Incense akebia has intensely fragrant dark purple flowers that turn into exceptionally large tasty fruit. Best to have 2 different varieties for cross pollination. In Japan the leaves are used for medicine and the vines are made into traditional baskets. Beautiful, lush dark green deciduous vines are excellent for covering a wall or fence. Disease and pest resistant vines are hardy zones 4-9. Cold hardy to USDA zone 4. Current stock available as conventional 1 gallon pots.
