Unique contorted cultivar with irregular zig-zagging angular branch growth pattern creating weeping sculptural appearance. Compact dwarf habit compared to upright growth of most jujubes. Introduced from China 1914 by plant explorer Frank Meyer. Beautiful ornamental accent, easily trained against wall.

Large round to oval sweet flavorful fruit similar to Li. Reddish-brown when ripe, eaten firm and crunchy or dried to date-like sweetness. Holds well on tree longer than most varieties. Typically first to ripen in collections. Partially self-fertile, benefits from cross-pollination.

Introduced from China 1914 by Frank Meyer. May be more than one contorted variety labeled 'So' circulating in US. Distributed through Stark Bros, One Green World, Dave Wilson Nursery, Planting Justice, Edible Landscaping.
