Small elongated fruit of good quality with thin edible skin.Ripens September through November in California. Large, symmetrical tree, is very cold and wind resistant handling under 21 degress F (some say down to 15 for mature trees over short periods). Also one of the more root rot resistant varieties, it makes an excellent Clonal rootstock for other varieties. Type A pollinator.  The duke scion came from the famous Duke Tree at the Oroville Train Station and is grafted onto a mexican type avocado seedling.
