Valerian is a perennial root often grown for the medicinal properties of its roots. In the summer it will grow up to five feet tall and produce inflorescences of many small, white, fragrant flowers. Valerian spreads very well by seed, so keep this in mind when planting. Flowers do well as cut flowers :)
Valerian is cold hardy (zones 3-9) and like to grow in full sun to partial afternoon shade.
