Catalpa (Catalpa speciosa)

Attractive tough drought tolerant tree native to Central U.S., Catalpa is well adapted to the West and can be found surviving on old homesteads throughout the region. Big heart shaped leaves and large clusters of trumpet shaped fancy white flowers are followed by incredibly long bean like seed pods. Makes a round headed tree up to 50 feet tall. Wood is said to make good fence posts. Zones 6-9. Current stock is 3+ foot tall established starts.
