Medium-large black-skinned figs with bright red interior, sweet intense berry flavor. Very similar to Black Madeira/Figo Preto but reportedly larger and more resistant to splitting. Vigorous grower, highly productive.

Common self-fertile fig producing medium-large fruits (comparable to or larger than Black Madeira). Black/dark purple skin, deep red jammy interior with rich berry flavor, closed eye provides rain resistance. Ripens late season, sets heavy main crop. No wasp pollination required.

Discovered August 2015 from 50+ year-old tree in Point Loma neighborhood, San Diego. Original owner brought variety from Portuguese Azores when immigrating for tuna fishing industry (1930s-1960s). Variety name unknown in Portugal. Introduced to US fig community 2016, quickly became sought-after for exceptional flavor and Black Madeira similarity.
