Elite Mayhaw (Crataegus aestivalis)

Very attractive short spreading tree has a beautiful branch pattern and is a pleasure to behold in the spring with its bright green new growth and showy flowers. Red blushed fruit ripens early summer and is great for making classic Mayhaw jelly that is so popular in the southeast states where they are native. Also used for jams, juice and wine. Unlike most other hawthorns Mayhaws ripen their fruit in early summer, hence the name “Mayhaw”. Zones 6-10.
