Vigorous productive reliable variety. Upright and vigorous tree. Scab-resistant tree, disease resistant, resistant to scab. Well adapted to Pacific Northwest growing conditions. Good production with little scab. Needs pollinizer, needs different European pear variety for pollinator.

Very large attractive fruit, large to very large, uniform size. Yellow fruit with reddish-orange blush, bright red-orange blush, attractive yellow with red blush. Sweet juicy and flavorful, smooth buttery sweet flesh, mild sweet flavor with melting flesh, excellent quality. Juicy smooth buttery sweet orange-red blushed with yellow flesh. Great for fresh eating, canning, drying. Small core makes easy to can.

Story goes Knox Nomura had fallen in love with tree at plant exhibition. Original tree rescued from developer demolition by attentive neighbor when original farmer's property transferred hands.
