Multi-stemmed deciduous shrub or small tree, also known as the Saskatoon serviceberry. Native western North America. Spreads by rhizomes and suckers, forms colonies. Glossy dark green leaves turning beautiful orange and crimson in autumn. Attractive white flowers in the spring.

Snow white flowers spring followed by sweet blue-black fruit early to mid-summer. Produces ¾ inch berries, considered most highly-flavored serviceberry. Very productive, large sweet fruit in great abundance. Self-fertile and long-lived. High vitamin C, excellent eating fresh, pies, jams, jellies. Ripens June-July. Attractive to bees, birds, butterflies.
