Weeping form of world-famous Santa Rosa plum. Japanese plum with distinctive graceful weeping growth habit. Good pollinizer for other plum varieties. Easily espaliered as limbs can be trained to trellis or against fence/wall. One of few deciduous fruit trees not recommended for drastic heading back at planting time - instead thin out to select 4-5 main branches if necessary.

Fruit similar to standard Santa Rosa, equal quality. One of most flavorful aromatic Japanese plums when fully ripe. Beautiful claret red to reddish-purple plums, nearly black when fully mature. Red flesh interior. Changes colors at different stages: early quite red, matures to reddish-purple, mature fruit almost looks black. Sweet juicy rich flavor, tangy, intensely flavorful. Doesn't set large crops but fruit outstanding quality. Ripens 2-3 weeks later than standard Santa Rosa. Best suited for growers with long hot summers due to later ripening. Self-fruitful. Attractive white blossoms in early spring.

Weeping variant of Luther Burbank's famous 1906 Santa Rosa. Developed and introduced as ornamental fruiting form. Garden-worthy even without fruit due to beautiful weeping structure, attractive flowers in spring, and luscious burgundy color as fruit ripens. Tree lights up in early summer with burgundy color. In full bloom looks covered in soft blanket of pure white snow. Perfect candidate for edible landscaping. Remains relatively uncommon specialty variety valued by collectors and home orchardists for ornamental qualities combined with excellent fruit.
