Imperial Epinuese Plum

Large purplish-red fruit has yellow flesh that is of excellent quality, tender, sweet and rich. Late ripening fruit is great for fresh eating and canning.

Strong growing spreading tree originated as a chance seedling in the prune growing district of France around 1870. Imperial Epineuse came from Clairac, the great prune district of France and was brought to the United States by Felix Gillett of Nevada City. This sweet French prune plum is used at the English National Fruit Trials as a standard to judge prune flavor.
