Amelanchier × grandiflora 'Robin Hill'. Hybrid cross between A. arborea and A. laevis (some sources say A. canadensis × A. laevis). Small deciduous tree with an oval-shaped crown with slightly ascending branches, dense upright form spreading with age, rounded-oval shape. Upright and open form. Can be grown as standard tree or multi-trunked. Pink to pale pink flower buds open to shell pink/soft pale pink flowers fading to white, appearing before leaves emerge in early spring (April). Bronzy foliage opens, turns lush green in late spring/summer, produces shades of orange to red/orange-red by fall. More vigorous grower than other cultivars. Compact and resilient both as multi-stem and single-stem tree. Supposed to be more resistant to mildew. Moderate growth rate. Expected lifespan 40+ years. Good choice for street plantings. Low canopy suitable for planting under power lines.

Edible dark purple to blue-black berries. Sweet, juicy, edible fruit. Attractive to birds. Ripe berries safe for human consumption. Can be used in jams, jellies, pies. All serviceberries make great jam.

Cultivar 'Robin Hill' is distinguished from other selections by pink flower buds. Upright habit makes good choice for street plantings or upright settings where small attractive tree desired. More vigorous than other amelanchier cultivars. Well-formed amelanchier ideal for street planting. Provides four-season interest: spring flowers, summer fruit, fall color, winter bark structure. Excellent for specimen tree, screening tree, foundation tree, habitat gardens, woodland gardens, mixed borders.
