Calimyrna (Sari Lop) Fig

This very large golden yellow Smyrna type fig is the most important commercial fig variety in California, and needs the fig wasp for pollination. Amber tinged with strawberry colored flesh is rich and sweet and excellent for both drying and fresh eating. The fertilized seeds are crunchy and add a nice nutty flavor to the fruit. Grown in Turkey for centuries and first planted commercially in California in 1886.
