Southern highbush developed by North Carolina State University breeder James Ballington. Released 2007, patented 2009 (US Plant Patent PP19903). Cross of 'Bounty' × NC 2426 made in 1980. Seeds germinated winter 1980/1981, 100 seedlings established at Jackson Springs, NC in 1982. Elite genotype NC 2925 selected 1987 for vigorous erect habit, superior productivity, color, picking scar, firmness and quality. Very productive with semi-upright growth. Highly self-fertile reducing need for pollinators. Compact form. Good resistance to Botryosphaeria pathogens (stem canker and blight). Fairly broad soil adaptation.

Small to medium berries with excellent color, very good picking scar, firmness and excellent sweet flavor. Good post-harvest fruit quality and shelf-life. Medium blue color.

Ripens early-midseason following 'Reveille' (mid-May to early June in NC coastal region, mid-late June in TN/Southern Appalachians). Adapted to mechanical harvest for fresh market. Very high yield potential - 10-14 pounds per mature bush, ripening over 2-3 weeks. Significantly higher yields than comparison varieties in trials. Suitable for both hand and mechanical harvest. Great for smaller gardens and urban locations due to compact size.
