Annona cherimola

(Grafted) Cherimoya is a dense, fast-growing, broad leaved tree to 30 feet, native to Central America. The spreading arms of the trees begin low on the trunk, for all purposes evergreen but deciduous in California. At maturity, the fruit turns a pale green or creamy yellow color.

D. White, Dr. White, or White Cherimoya is among the hardiest of cherimoyas. This variety was grafted onto a Pierce seedling. D. White can grow 20-30 feet, has a more consistent growth pattern, and is popular with commercial growers. It has a more mild flavor which can be described as similar to a mango and papaya combined. In North America, the flowers are best pollinated by hand. D.White is thought to have larger fruit than other varieties.

Hardiness Zones: Fruits best in Zone 10, but can be grown in Zones 9-11.
