Cyphomandra abutiloides "Dan's Gold"

This is a selection we were gifted by friends from the Santa Cruz Rare Fruit Growers in Hollister.  Its nearly identical to the dwarf tamarillo, the highlight is this varietal tastes a lot better. The common variety has a metallic aftertaste that can be overbearing, this selection has a much more pleasant taste making it a fun addition to anyones food forest.

A fast growing cousin of the Tree Tomato. Bears small, orange ripening fruits with orange flesh. Will grow 6-10 feet . and works great as a container plant. Hardy to zone 9b (25 - 30F). Green fruit might be mildly toxic so harvest and eat the soft orange fruit fresh or as a jam, sauce or chutney.
